Project Spotlight

Whole House Remodel

This “All American” circa 1915, classical designed residence needed a complete update to restore its beauty and modernize it into the twenty-first century. The kitchen (see before & after pictures to the left) was small and isolated with too many doors and ill-configured cabinetry. Space was added to accommodate new glazed storage cabinetry at the end of the kitchen designed in the period of the house. The small doorway to the dining room (see below picture) from the breakfast area was converted to a large opening to the new trestle-style breakfast table, banquette seating and new window above. New larger windows were added to bring southeast morning light into the three now connected spaces. The room was finished in soft off-white paint and neutral stone and tiles with a period pattern in the splash. Details in the dining room and foyer were faithful to the period style of the house.

The Children’s Bathroom (see before and after pictures to the below left) renovation included a new lavatory cabinet of classical oval design and wall mounted mirror and fixtures befitting of the restoration of this 1915’s San Francisco residence. The classical new design is reflected in the window and bathtub trim work details and use of beautifully coordinated finishes. Traditional tile and fixtures were used to complete the contextual design in this historic house.

Podesta Construction
in the News

This past October, Podesta Construction Inc. participated in the 19th annual Potrero Hill Street Festival. We had a booth open during the Festival in which we raffled off a Kitchen Design and showcased a lot of our projects and had staff on hand to answer any questions that came our way. The lucky winner was a local resident of Potrero Hill. All proceeds of the Festival benefited the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House.

Congratulations to Matt Podesta for being recognized at the San Francisco Bay Area NARI Leadership Dinner on November 11th. Matt was awarded the 2009 President’s Award for his hard work and dedication to the Chapter. Good Job Matt!
