Our homes are where we typically spend most of our time, and in many of our homes, the indoor air quality is more polluted than the air outside, leading to many respiratory problems, particularly with our children. Additionally, in developing new and recycled products, we have introduced many harmful chemicals. Through proper design, which includes ventilation and filters, we can improve air quality with:

  • Abatement of asbestos and/or mold in existing homes.
  • Use of formaldehyde-free batt or blown-in cellulose insulation.
  • Use of formaldehyde-free building products when possible.
  • Use of low or non VOC paints.
  • Use of hard surface flooring materials instead of carpet.
  • Installation of high quality filters on forced air furnaces.
  • Replacement of wood-burning fireplaces with gas-insert fireplaces.
  • Proper ventilation at kitchens, baths, and laundries.
  • Proper separation of combustion exhaust from living space.
  • Water filtration systems.
